We wanted to take some space in our blog to introduce you to our fearless leader: Myrna Steinbaum. Myrna is the founder and owner of VeniExpress and has spent the last 11 years building this business from the ground up.
We know there’s a short bio about her on our team page, but Myrna is so much more than just the sum of her experience and credentials. Myrna is truly the heart and soul of VeniExpress. She sets the tone for the company and has built a strong teamwork culture that helps the company and its employees thrive. In an interview published in Businessing Magazine, Myrna says, “I believe in being a leader, rather than a boss. I try to help people reach their greatest potential. Our company strives for excellence, and in doing so, we have created a great support team.”
As a phlebotomist herself, Myrna understands the day-to-day duties of a phlebotomist. Even though she runs the entire company and oversees the dozens of employees at VeniExpress, you can still occasionally find Myrna in the field, doing patient draws when things get especially busy.
Myrna understands the importance of things like patient care and customer service. She knows that patience and compassion are critical elements in the type of work her company does, so she is very discerning in her hiring practices. She makes sure that all of the phlebotomists working at VeniExpress are experienced, and also that they are caring and compassionate individuals. Since our services lend themselves well to patients who are elderly, homebound, or who have special needs, our phlebotomists need to possess the demeanor and the patience to give our patients quality care. In a recent interview with Superb Crew, Myrna explains,
“[Our phlebotomists] are often working with patients who need a little extra care, and we want to make sure every patient gets the type of service they need.”
In an interview on Compendent.com, she says,
“For us, it’s about more than just completing a transaction. We want our clients to feel comfortable and cared for every time one of our phlebotomists comes to their home.”
Myrna is also a stickler for quality control, knowing that the reputation of a mobile phlebotomy company can be built or destroyed on the integrity of the specimens they deliver to the lab for processing. Not only does VeniExpress provide its phlebotomists with all of the equipment necessary to properly preserve the specimens they collect, but there is also a comprehensive quality assurance system in place to make sure VeniExpress’s phlebotomists are following all of the proper protocols. As a result, our clients can be confident in their lab results—knowing that the specimens collected by the phlebotomists at VeniExpress have been handled and stored correctly.
Most importantly, Myrna runs VeniExpress with integrity. She is an incredible woman of faith and relies on God as she manages and grows the business.
